Sheet L-1. A quarter-acre lot in Athens, drawn the way we would plan it. Clay is what the builder left. Blue is water we move or make. Green is ours.

Three things we do, and one we fix.

Most weeks it is mowing and beds. Some weeks it is a pond or a patio. And when a yard holds water, we know where it needs to go.

Lawn care

Mow, edge, trim, blow, same day each week. Beds kept up while we are there if you want. A short list of yards, each one looked at, not just cut.

Backyard projects

Koi ponds and waterfalls are the specialty. Patios, fire pits, seat walls and small structures come with them. Chris built his own backyard this way. He can build yours.

from $3,500

Plan the backyard

Water that will not leave

New lots here are red clay with the topsoil scraped off, graded for the house and not the yard. Rain runs to the lowest corner and sits for days. A downspout extension, a swale or a French drain gives it somewhere to go. Chris has moved a lot of water building ponds. This is the same work in reverse.

from $1,500

Ranges assume a typical standard lot in Limestone County. We confirm the exact number after a quick visit, no obligation.

Photos are coming.

We are better at doing the work than photographing it. The best thing we can show you right now is Chris's own backyard, the pond and the waterfall, which is where this all started. Text us and we will send pictures of that and of recent yards.

Blake WhittBack home in Athens, working alongside his dad.

A father, a son, and a backyard people ask about.

Chris Whitt's father laid brick across North Alabama, and Chris learned the trade at his elbow: how to set a line, check it, and check it again before the mortar sets. He went on to teach school and coach in Athens for a long time, and the whole time he kept building. He helped build his own house and his family's. He built a sauna. He turned his backyard into a koi pond, a waterfall and a place to sit at the end of the day, and people who see it ask who did it.

When he retired, the yard work he had been doing on the side became the job. Most weeks that means mowing and keeping up a short list of yards around Athens. Some weeks it means a new flower bed, a pond, or a patio. Whatever it is, he reads up on it first and does it the slow way once, so nobody has to do it twice.

Blake came home to Athens this year and started working alongside him. It is the two of us, not a crew. When you text, one of us answers. When we show up, it is the two of us in your yard.

If you are in or around Athens, we would like to take care of your yard.

What the neighbors say.

We are collecting our first Google reviews.

Most of our work has come by word of mouth, which does not show up on a website. If we have worked on your yard, a review helps the next family in your neighborhood find us. If we have not yet, read what is there and decide for yourself.

Everything we do.

Four things, done by two people who live here.

Where we work.

Based in Athens. The closer you are, the easier it is for us to say yes. Outside the ring, text us and we will tell you straight.

Questions people ask us.

Who actually shows up?

Chris and Blake. We do not send a crew you have never met. If you text, one of us answers.

Do you do one-time jobs or only weekly mowing?

Both. Mowing is month to month. Beds, cleanups, ponds, patios and drainage are one-time projects with a price you approve first.

How fast do you respond?

Text is best. You will usually hear back the same day. For project quotes we come look, usually within a week.

My yard holds water every time it rains. Is that normal here?

Common, but not normal. Most of Limestone County is red clay, and new lots have had the topsoil scraped off and the clay packed down. Water collects along the fence, the foundation or the back corner. A downspout extension, a swale or a French drain usually fixes it in a day or two.

When should I plant, seed or lay sod?

Shrubs and trees go in best in the fall. Bermuda and zoysia sod from April through September. Fescue seed in late September and October. Pre-emergent for crabgrass needs to be down by mid-February.

Are estimates free?

Yes. Text a photo and your town for a ballpark. For anything bigger than mowing we come look and text you a firm number.

Text us a photo of the yard.

A picture of the lawn, the bed or the wet corner is enough to get a ballpark back. No forms, no sales call.
